Four ways to turn YouTube into knowledge

Same goal, different residue. What you should pick depends on whether you read a summary once, or want to pull it back up months later. The table below compares approaches, not specific products.

The four approaches

YouTube summarizers

The quickest way to get the gist of one video right now.

Taking your own notes

Deepest understanding, and you decide exactly what is worth keeping.

General AI chatbots

You can keep asking follow-up questions.

Stacktube

Watches channels for you and writes structured notes into the place you already keep knowledge.

What Stacktube does not do

Better for both of us if you know the misfits up front. If any of these matter to you, another approach fits better.

  • You cannot hold a back-and-forth conversation with a note. If interactive follow-up is the point, an AI chatbot is the better fit.
  • Notes come out in English, 日本語, or 한국어 — three languages. (The video itself can be in any language, as long as it has captions.)
  • A video with no captions at all falls back to a lightweight analysis from the title and description.
  • Obsidian sync and Cross-Video search start at the Pro plan. Starter delivers notes via web and email.
  • reMarkable works by delivering to Google Drive or Dropbox and letting reMarkable's own sync pick it up. We do not push to the device directly.
